Madison County Drinking Driver Program

     

BRiDGES Operates the Madison County Drinking Driver Program (DDP) for those convicted of DWI and DWAI. The program includes a 7 week course with 16 contact hours that involves includes multi media presentations, small group discussions and didactic presentations that address the following topics:

      • The Traffic System
      • Values, Lifestyles and Decision Making
      • Alcohol, Other Drugs and Driving
      • Substance Abuse and Driving Safety
      • Substance Abuse and Driving: "A Social Problem"
      • The Decision is Yours

During the 7 week course everyone is screened for alcohol related problems. Motorists who meet certain threshold criteria are referred to a certified clinic or licensed professional for a comprehensive alcohol evaluation. These providers evaluate motorists in accordance with the Department of Motor Vehicles' "Guidelines for Comprehensive Alcohol and Drug Abuse Evaluations." As a result of this evaluation some motorists may be referred for treatment.
