The second Safe Pill Drop Off was conducted on April 24 ,2010. This Drop Off collected 380 pounds of old and unused medications or an estimated 185,900 pills (6,380 of those were controlled substances). The Drug Free Task Force would like to thank the many groups that worked together on this project-especially the Madison County Department of Solid Waste and Sanitation and the RSVP volunteers of Madison County. The next Safe Pill Drop Off is scheduled for September 25, 2010 more information to follow.
Why are we concerned with old medications and disposing of them? We want to see people properly dispose of meds to help decrease prescription drug abuse and to help decrease the environmental issues caused by improper medication disposal.
