Smoking Cessation Services

      

BRiDGES offers smoking cessation services for individuals and groups in Madison County. Information such as brochures and videos on quitting smoking are available, as well as counselors to help youth and adults. Smoking Cessation Specialist's can help individuals interested in quitting smoking develop a plan that will assist them in meeting their goals.

  • Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of death in the United States today, responsible for at least 430,000 deaths each year.
  • 7 out of 10 smokers want to quit, but feel they need help.
  • Adolescents who begin smoking are 3 times more likely to begin using alcohol.
  • Eighty-nine percent of people who smoke begin by age 18. Almost no one starts the smoking habit during adulthood.
  • Seventy percent of adolescent smokers say they would never have started if they could choose again.
  • Tobacco is responsible for nearly one in every five deaths in the United States. It is the largest cause of preventable death.
